Anois (Gaelic for "now") is a Dutch band playing poetic Celtic music. Elflike vocals on a tapestry of velvety harp sounds and haunting tin-whistle tunes characterize the music of Anois.
Anois was founded in the winter of 1996 and is based around the vocals and compositions of lead singer Veronica Metz. Sources of inspiration are Deanta, Enya, Loreena McKennitt, Clannad and the literary works by J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings) and Emily Bront? (Wuthering Heights).
Tolkien’s masterpieces 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit' include a lot of poems meant to be sung by elves, dwarves, hobbits and men. Veronica set a large number of these poems to music which were enthousiasticly received by audiences and even hardline Tolkien fans. Amongst others, Anois has given several performances for Unquendor (the Dutch Tolkien Society), local television stations, Tolk-Folk (Tolkien festival in Poland) and Veronica travelled to England to give a solo performance for the international Tolkien Society.
