Though Elina Wells established herself in the Los Angeles singer-songwriter scene, it is her Hawaiian heritage that influenced her sophomore solo release, Mesmerized. Elina learned to play the ukulele in middle school, and picked it back up in recent years, giving several songs on Mesmerized an island sound. It fits the album's overall feel-good, energetic vibe. Her career kicked off in 2006 with solo album Elina, which included Dream Like New York (co-written with husband Tyrone Wells). The song was featured in the animated film Everyone's Hero, as well as the Mets promo for their World Series run and at the home games for the New York Knicks. In 2009 Elina collaborated on an album with fellow singer-songwriter, Tamila Zahrndt, entitled Tamila and Elina. In 2010 Elina and Tyrone released a duet album entitled Different As Can Be, which went to #2 on the iTunes Singer-Songwriter Chart. Tyrone and Elina performed their duets live in front of large audiences across the country on Tyrone Wells' Songs and Stories fall tour 2010 and on the Rock Boat and Cayamo cruises.
