Formed in 1991, the LPO is the longest-standing musician-governed and operated orchestra in the United States and the only full-time professional orchestra in the Gulf South. The Orchestra is dedicated to maintaining live symphonic music and a full-scale symphonic orchestra as an integral part of the culture and educational life of the New Orleans area, the state of Louisiana, and the entire Gulf South region.
