Simon Aldred isn't your typical candidate. Having spent a good part of the last decades playing music that is closer to Dolly Parton than Destroyer, his new project, Out Cold, is an impressive transformation for the former country artist. Wave upon wave, layer upon layer of synths all overlayed by Aldred's echoing falsetto vocal melodies, Out Cold's debut single All I Want is the perfect soundtrack to the current heatwave.
But Simon's remarkable shift in style and sound begs some important questions. So RFB asked the Mancunian musician to map out his mind and give us some clues as to the inspiration behind his current zenith. The by-no-means exhaustive list that follows aptly demonstrates the disparate reference points drawn upon for Out Cold.
