Lucenzo (born Filipe Oliveira, May 27, 1983 in Bordeaux, France)[1] is a singer, songwriter and producer of Portuguese origin. Lucenzo is signed to Universal Music record label.
He is best known for his recent dance hit "Vem dan?ar kuduro" featuring Big Ali. Puerto Rican reggaetón singer Don Omar released a Spanish language version of the song under the title "Danza Kuduro" with Lucenzo.
Lucenzo released his debut single in 2008, a French/multilingual reggae/reggaeton song entitled "Emigrante del mundo"[2]. Signed to Scopio Music, the song became a French radio hit in tens of radio stations including Fun Radio. It reached #1 on "Radio Latina" and stayed in Top 5 on the station for 42 weeks. It was followed in 2009 by "Dame reggaeton", which both became a #1 as well on radio Latina.[3]
But it was with his bilingual English/Portuguese dance hit single "Vem dan?ar kuduro"[4] in collaboration with Big Ali that he found big success in Europe, kuduro being originally an Angolan type of music also very popular in Portugal. The single reached #2 in the French Top 50 charts (based solely on actual sales of singles) and #1 on the French Club 40 charts (based on actual plays in 80 discos in France). It was also a Top 40 hit in Switzerland reaching #31.
An alternative Spanish language version by Don Omar with Lucenzo has been released on 15 August 2010 entitled "Danza Kuduro". The accompanying music video was released on 17 August 2010.[5] It is also featured on Don Omar's compilation album Meet the Orphans
