Satin Jackets was created in 2009 as a studio project. The idea was to contribute classy studio productions to the emerging Nu Disco scene in tribute to the style of great 80s veterans like Trevor Horn, Giorgio Moroder, and Reggie Lucas as well as John "Jellybean" Benitez. Word quickly spread through edits and remakes of a few well-known earworms from the past; those inviting a little nip and tuck, rather than touching on all-time classics that one cannot (and should not try to) improve upon. The emphasis lies on the further exploration of the happily rediscovered fact that four-to-the-floor dance grooves unfold their true magic at speeds well below 120bpm without having to resort to R&B mechanisms. Bridging the gap between tracks and pop songs, Satin Jackets continues to deliver glossy tunes wrapped in the lushness of modern club sound. Early 2013, Satin Jackets recruited their friend Den to take the lead on their live performances while band leader Tim concentrates on producing and his label work.
