Eric Himan is so grassroots, his face is green, though his music tells a different story. Without the help of record labels, booking agents, publicists, or management, Eric Himan is touring to more places, getting great press coverage, and still has time to run his record label, Thumbcrown Records, home to his six studio albums. He just released his newest (selling out of his first shipment before the drop date), Resonate, and has five years of solid touring in the US under his belt. Magazines in the LGBT community took notice right away (The Advocate, OUT Magazine, Instinct) and newspapers (such as the Boston Herald, Pittsburgh-Post Gazette, and Phoenix New Times) interviewed him to find out what makes this work horse stay in the game despite obstacles such as major label artists, rooms that are booked by big agencies, and finding his audience. Fender Guitars even recognized his talent by not only endorsing him but featuring him in their 2004 Fender Catalogue. As he toured more frequently, he began to appear on Sirius Radio's OUTQ Channel and his music videos began heavy rotation on MTV's owned LOGO Channel. This led to a nomination for music artist this year at the NewNowNext Awards where he appeared alongside Cyndi Lauper, Project Runway's Christian Syriano, and pop sensation, Leona Lewis. Eric has also won the Singer-Songwriter Awards with the prize being licensing with MTV's The Hills, The Real World, The City, Vh1's Tough Love, and E!'s Kardashian's franchise shows. He also won Absolute Best of Tulsa's Best Artist of the Year and Best Male Vocalist in 2009!
Eric's new band, Eric and the Adams, a rock/pop/soul trio based out of Tulsa, OK are already being heard nationwide after just releasing their debut 5 song album this past December. After a random meeting at an open mic in August of 2007, award-winning singer/songwriter, Eric Himan, asked brother/sister rhythm section, Angel and Jimmy Adams if they would back him for a solo gig that required he have a band. In those rehearsals, personal chemistry and musical experimentation occurred foreshadowing the creation of the band and garnering them a larger audience every time they performed. With Eric making the transition from acoustic to electric guitar and the band contributing their songwriting skills, Eric and the Adams were born with their first gig under that name in the summer of 2008.
By the time their debut CD arrived in stores and online in late 2009, they had performed on the ABC and NBC affiliates in Tulsa, featured in the majority of publications in the region and state, performed their songs on Tulsa's rock radio stations KMOD and The Edge, and played gigs around Tulsa and other US cities (Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Jackson, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Des Moines, and Kansas City). Already, their new CD has been charting on college radio stations across the US and Canada and this February, they are scheduled to play the wrap-up party for an episode of ABC’s Emmy award-winning show, Extreme Makeover:Home Edition.
