Since their humble beginnings in 2010 Melbourne based five piece Ocean Grove have evolved into one of the most professional, driven and highly anticipated acts of the unsigned heavy music contingent in Australia. Their extremely reputable live show endeavours not only to showcase the tight musicianship present on their recordings but also to extract as much energy as possible from the audience. Al...though conceding to the label of a Metalcore act, the group rejects the notion of being placed into a genre admitting that “If we place ourselves to a genre, it automatically creates an expectation in the minds of listeners of what we should sound like or come across and thereby restricts us from reaching others by default, this shouldn’t be the case as we pride our music on being unpredictable, impulsive almost, irrespective of any current fads or trends”. Perhaps the most remarkable facet of the band is the fact that despite their experience and matured sound all members are 17-18 years of age.
After releasing some solid demo tracks, working with acclaimed producers such as Roman Koester (Complex Studios) and Callan Orr (Avalanche Studios) Ocean Grove caught the eye of several Australian touring and booking agencies, earning slots supporting major national and international acts such as; Dream On, Dreamer, Like Moths To Flames (US), The Contortionist (US), Antagonist AD (NZ), A Plea For Purging (US) and Confession just to name a few. After seeking out an agency close to home OG joined the up and coming ranks of Ash Hull Management. Next venture on the horizon for the ever growing entity that had become was writing and eventually recording an EP, a feat which they had aimed to achieve for a long while. While there was no shortage of studio’s and engineers available to the band, it was collectively decided that they would take a gamble and go with a relatively unknown producer in Declan White. Around about the time they began production on their debut EP entitled ‘Outsiders’ it was announced that they would still be booked and further managed by young heavyweight Ash Hull as the company reformed with a larger roster and more agents to create the Brightside Agency.
Poised for the release of their debut, conceptual EP, with an impressive run of launch shows, a music video to be released and a rapidly increasing fan base OG are ready to take the country by storm with extensive touring of the country planned for next year. Ultimately proving testament to their extensive work rate and endeavour, have already began chalk boarding for a full length release intended to be released mid 2013.
