Terry is a composer and conductor with a wide range of credits in film, theatre and TV
He started his professional composing at the National Theatre where he had been an experienced music director and orchestrator. He first worked there as co-orchestrator of the multi-award winning Guys and Dolls with its remarkable cast including Bob Hoskins, Julia McKenzie, Ian Charleson, Julie Covington and Imelda Staunton This was followed by 12 years of National Theatre productions with many leading actors and directors. Amongst his compositions for the National Theatre are The Voysey Inheritance, Edmond with Kenneth Branagh, Scenes From the Big Picture, Luther with Rufus Sewell, The Misanthrope, Neaptide, The Festival of New Plays, Antigone and Tales From Hollywood with Michael Gambon. He also composed for the National's The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, developing the vocal routines with Jane Horrocks and Sam Mendes. Many other compositions for theatre include Days of Wine and Roses at the Donmar Warehouse, Honeymoon Suite at the Royal Court with John Alderton, Sexual Perversity in Chicago at the Comedy Theatre with Matthew Perry alongside Minnie Driver, The York Realist by Peter Gill (Critics Circle Award: Best Play 2002) at the Royal Court and Strand Theatres, Speed-the-Plow at the Duke of Yorks Theatre, Hushabye Mountain at the Hampstead Theatre with Andrew Lincoln, and Michael Frayn's Alarms and Excursions with Felicity Kendal at the Gielgud Theatre. He has also composed for a large number of Shakespeare productions at the RSC and Regent's Park's Open Air Theatre. Terry also wrote songs for the RSC's production of Alice in Wonderland. He has written 2 musicals: The Birds, commissioned by the Istanbul City Theatre, which ran for 4 years, and Kes! The Musical for the Octagon Theatre, Bolton and revived at York's Theatre Royal.
